Imaging Best Practices

  1. Only load Network drivers onto the Windows PE boot images.
  2. Always use a virtual machine to build reference images.
  3. Never use a Panasonic demo unit as a image master.
  4. Panasonic's OEM license does not support mass-deployments. Purchase the Volume License Conversion, which upgrades the OEM license to Professional Volume License.
  5. Panasonic suggests performing wipe-and-loads instead of in-place upgrades.
  6. Use the “Powershell App Deploy Toolkit” to wrap silent application installations.
  7. Use the http://panasonicdeployment.com site to locate the latest driver packages.
  8. Use Enterprise CAB driver packages over One-Click Bundles, if possible.
  9. Wireless WAN driver packages are hosted on our http://business.panasonic.com/support-computerstablets-otherdownloads-wirelesscarrier site.
  10. When encountering issues, download the latest Intel LAN driver from http://downloadcenter.intel.com
  11. Use x64 Boot images, because they support both legacy and UEFI system BIOSes.

In SCCM:

  1. We suggest to use the "Apply Driver Package" and not the "Auto Apply Drivers".
  2. If vendor is deploying image, provide vendor a “Pre-staged Media”.
  3. Integrate MDT extensions into SCCM for additional functionality.
